Blizzard and Nvidia investigating reports Diablo 4 is killing RTX 3080 Ti GPUs-

Update: The Diablo 4 team are investigating reports of RTX 3080 Ti graphics cards crashing or dying while playing the game’s closed beta. Customer support says Blizzard is “working closely with Nvidia to identify affected hardware configurations and gather as many data points as possible to assist in the investigation.”

For affected users, the team offers the following advice in a forum thread:

If your card is still not working, try these troubleshooting steps:

  • Conduct a complete power cycle (AC OFF->AC ON) and see if GPU can be detected under Windows.
  • If GPU can be found under Windows, do a clean driver install.

Original story: Fresh reports suggest some RTX 3080 Ti graphics cards are running horribly, or even dying, while playing the Diablo 4 closed beta over the weekend.

In what appears to be an issue closely resembling when Amazon’s MMO New World was bricking RTX 3090 GPUs,…

Lords Mobile is getting ready for the next battle as it kicks off collaboration with THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV-

Lords Mobile has been home to some neat collaborations over the years: Kung Fu Panda, Pagani, and even Armored Combat Worldwide. As cool as those are, the latest crossover may be the coolest one to date: Lords Mobile x THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV.

That’s right, IGG’s MMORTS is teaming up with SNK’s bombastic fighting game to bring new Castle Skins, Leader Skins, Collab Avatars, Collab Emotes, Artifacts, and a Guild Frame across a range of events between now and July 31. Homeworld 3 is delayed to 2024-

Blackbird Interactive announced today that its upcoming space opera RTS Homeworld 3 has been delayed. Instead of arriving in the first half of 2023 as expected, the studio now says it will be out in February 2024.

“Our primary goal is to deliver a Homeworld experience that lives up to the standards set by its predecessors and is worthy of this series’ incredible legacy,” Blackbird said. “Homeworld 3 is shaping up to be exactly that, but in order to fully realize that vision we need more time to refine and polish the game.

“We deeply appreciate your passion and dedication to this game, and we are working hard to get Homeworld 3 to you as soon as we can.”

In an FAQ, Blackbird said the delay wasn’t caused by any specific issue, but simply a desire to live up to the “iconic” standards set by the previous games in the series: “This work takes time, especially when we are raising the bar on what players will experience in the Homeworld universe.”

Overwatch 2 characters are canonically One Punch Man fans, because why not–

Blizzard has a canonical reason for why its Overwatch 2 heroes are wearing the upcoming One Punch Man costumes.

Speaking to Xbox Wire, Overwatch 2 art director Dion Rogers said that the characters don’t become One Punch Man characters when they use the crossover skins, they’re just big fans.

“That’s our approach; that our heroes are basically aware of the anime and are fans too. And they’re cosplaying as the heroes,” Rogers said. “So when you see Doomfist wearing the Saitama outfit, he’s a fan too.”

The hero shooter’s wall-climbing support character Kiriko will get a skin based on Tatsumaki, or Terrible Tornado. The skin swaps her outfit to black and gives her green hairlike the psychic One Punch Man character.

Overwatch 2 takes place sometime around 2077 and Kiriko is in her early 20s, which suggests One Punch Man fandom held strong for over 60 years in this universe. I would have guessed Neon Genesis Evangelion would be the one…

Asked if it plans to delay Star Wars Outlaws over negative YouTube comments, Ubisoft says no- ‘I think people will love it’-

Watch On

After a not-great response to a recent 10-minute IGN First gameplay preview of the upcoming Star Wars: Outlaws, Ubisoft says the August 30 release date is locked in, and the game will not be delayed.

We’ve generally liked what we’ve seen of Star Wars Outlaws so far, with some caveats attached. Staff writer Morgan Park called it out in a June preview for being overly cautious, for instance, saying the game’s real potential lies in its open world, which Ubisoft didn’t showcase during that event.

“What I played were three disconnected missions that showed off three things you’ll be doing a lot of in Outlaws: climbing and shooting, sneaking and shooting, and flying and shooting,” he wrote. “I had fun in all three, though not as much as I imagined.”

Ubisoft may not be having as much fun in the wake of the IGN First gameplay preview as it imagined either. A day after it went up on YouTube, the video has drawn 13,000 dislikes, compared to just 8,000 likes. The re…

Plex says controversial service that emails your anime habits to your mates is opt-in, actually, pointing at a screen where you still have to turn it off-

Earlier this week, Plex caused some uproar when its “Discover Together” feature began to surprise users, emailing their friends and media server compatriots with their watch history. The feature seems like a superfluous bell and/or whistle to the rig-your-own Netflix-style streaming service, which allows you to make your own media servers to stream content you own or have downloaded to a TV or similar.

The emails in particular are called the “Week in Review”. To many who were just using the platform as a way to store all their totally-legally-downloaded anime, they felt like an overstep of privacy. Users called it an “opt-out” system, which—as you’re about to find out, is technically not the case, but only in the barest terms.

I’ve received a statement from Plex, which maintains that its Discover Together feature—which had been catching users unaware—is opt-in. “Based on the comments in the forums and Reddit, users who were ‘unaware’ that their watch ac…

Qualcomm’s new Windows PC chip supports AMD’s FSR… and I’m not sure AMD had any idea about it-

One of the things I was most interested to see out here at the Computex 2024 techstravaganza were the swathe of Snapdragon X Elite laptops that are soon to launch, mostly because it’s been surprisingly bullish about its gaming performance. But the first time I’ve actually got to test the gaming performance myself yielded something surprising: The X Elite uses AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) upscaling to great effect.

And the other surprising thing is that some AMD folk I spoke to at the show didn’t seem to know that was a thing, either.

But this is the strength of FSR; it’s been built to be vendor agnostic, but I don’t think it was expecting to be completely instruction set agnostic, either. After all, we are talking about a very different version of Windows here. Snapdragon X Elite chips run on Windows on ARM as they’re not the same sort of x86 silicon as Intel and AMD’s traditional CPUs.

At the demo event in downtown Taipei we had the chance to get our ha…

This browser-based ‘endless crafting game’ starts you off with fire and water, but it quickly escalates to God, the Big Bang, and ‘Yin-Yoda’-

A toadstool, the Universe, King Midas, the Golem. This is not a free association exercise, but rather a list of concoctions my coworkers and I have produced in Infinite Craft, a deceptively simple browser game by developer Neal Agarwal, who you may know for creating a delightfully “unhinged browser game about passwords” last year.

Infinite Craft resembles earlier combination games like Little Alchemy or Doodle God, asking you to drag to combine two elements together on a big whiteboard in order to unlock new, ever more complex materials to work with. Like those earlier games, it starts out pretty bare, with your craftables limited to the four classical elements of fire, earth, air, and water, represented here by little flash cards with emojis.

The difference in Infinite Craft is that it uses generative AI to introduce reactivity and experimentation in its responses, rather than a puzzle-solving ethos with set combinations like in prior games. “I think Doodle God is…
